Gear Up A Child is a program that provides human services
year round to youth, their families, and community organizations. The
objective of this program is to provide new and previously owned
athletic equipment, computers, along with financial support to
disadvantaged children or organizations. The Gear Up A Child Program
currently has partnerships Ingram Micro Inc. and AAA of Western and
Central New York. Both of these organizations have had employee drives
to help collect athletic equipment which in turn was given to little
league football teams, families, day cares, and community youth
centers! The program was able to furnish each graduate from our past
summers’ Spanish classes with a Spanish / English dictionary. We also
helped cover some of the expenses of two children to travel to Rome New
York to compete in the 3 on 3 Gus Macker Tournament. New cheerleader
uniforms were donated to Burgard High Schools’ squad. Youth basketball
teams that participated in both spring and summer leagues were
sponsored. Several elementary and high school aged students enrolled in
the Buffalo Public School System just received free desk top computer
systems. These educational gifts will help these children and their
families bridge the digital informational gap. This alone provided
numerous youth an opportunity to enjoy free and safe recreation during
non school hours.

We have sponsored this new upcoming soccer program
called Buffalo International Chili Peppers, which now has three
different age groups competing in league competitions. We have
split payment for their league fees and provided over $1600 in kind
services by providing van transportation to out of town games.
These team are made up of new refugees from various countries such as;
Burma, Senegal, Bukina, Fazo, Rwanda, Thailand, Turkey, and Russia.

Our nonprofit organization has
supported the efforts of chess ambassador Mike McDuffie by being the
official trophy & awards sponsors for several of his tournaments that
have taken place in the Western New York area over the past year. One of
his teams have won regional competitions and travelled to Nashville
Tenn. for a national chess competition in which they have placed in the
top five in the nation. Our organization continues to evaluate other
educational and sports programs that may be worthy of our support within
the Western New York area that correspond with our philosophy for youth.
If you are an individual or company that has this kind of
community services at heart, please contact our program coordinator so
that we can continue to bring joy to those who don’t have. Also if you
are an individual or agency in need, contact us so that you can be a
recipient of our love.
